Men's Classic Gelled Hairstyles 29 August, 2010, 3:56 pm
In the early 1900's, the fashionable male wore his hair smooth and slicked back. It was either parted in the middle or on the side and was shiny from perfumed oils, Brylcreem, hair tonic or other similar products. Hair had a tendency to be longer on top and on the sides. Modern versions of this now classic men's hairstyle are being seen in many fashion shows and it's a great look, if you ask me....Read Full Post

Calvin Klein Men's Fall 2010 Collection 22 August, 2010, 4:59 pm
What I love about Calvin Klein is that classic pieces and silhouettes are made fresh simply by using more interesting fabrics and incorporating unique details. That couldn't be more true for fall 2010. Wool, tech fabrics and leather are used in unexpected ways. A simple color palette in black, grays and browns compliment this very modern fall collection....Read Full Post

6 Great Short Sleeve Shirts 14 August, 2010, 2:54 pm
One of the things I love the most about the summer season is short sleeve shirts--well, at least when I'm not at the office. And some guys like to throw on a long sleeve thermal underneath their favorite short sleeved shirts when the weather cools down. This is a great way to transition from one season to the next and to get more use out of your short sleeve shirts.
The Perfect Back To School Outfit 10 August, 2010, 5:27 pm
In my mind, the perfect back to school outfit is a polo, jeans and a fun pair of sneakers. This isn't an expensive outfit (at least it doesn't have to be) and it looks sharp. Of course it's not just for those who are school bound, it's the kind of outfit guys of all ages can wear.

The Camel Coat 9 September, 2010, 12:00 pm
I wandered into Zara recently to have a mooch around. It’s not a store in which I seek inspiration but for some reason, inspiration seems to creep up and bang me on the head rather often. Exactly two years ago, while on holiday, I purchased a charming check coat from the Lisbon branch. Exactly a [...]
Online Shirt Experiment and Review [Part Three] 8 September, 2010, 10:07 am
I have received the shirts that in early August I ordered online from Cottonwork, Modern Tailor and My Tailor. The package from Modern Tailor arrived on August 12, a mere twelve days after my order. The Cottonwork package arrived on August 16, only thirteen days after my order. My Tailor was the slowest; that package [...]
Bespoke Morning Dress Part Two 7 September, 2010, 4:12 pm
When a tailor is genuinely satisfied with his work, you can be sure of your own satisfaction. As Russell smoothed the deep blue herringbone tails of both my groom-to-be brother and my father, he uttered the same words; “I’m really pleased with that.” Though not surprised – for who could be surprised at their own [...]
Ode To The Loafer 6 September, 2010, 4:07 pm
While my taste usually remains somewhere under the large umbrella of “classic style,” whatever that means, I am prone to having “moments” if you will. For a period of time, I get extremely devoted to a specific garment or style, and tend to incorporate it almost daily in whatever else I feel like wearing. I’ll [...]
The Artist Behind The Images: Andy Barnham 5 September, 2010, 9:12 pm
Having recently posted an article on Berluti, I was contacted by said firm this week asking to use one of my photos for future PR purposes. Rather flattering, I’ll confess I didn’t think my photos were that good.
After several years of blogging you’d think I’d have learnt a trick or two on how to take [...]
The Dandies Of The NBA 5 September, 2010, 4:52 pm
Basketball is not a sport I associate with dandyism. In fact, it is not a sport I associate with much at all, though that is not for want of trying. My memories of playing basketball at school are rather unhappy ones. Not exactly of ideal stature, I was enthusiastic but was invariably subjected to that [...]
How Long Is Yours? 4 September, 2010, 9:37 pm
The wonderful thing about publishing a blog is the never ending series of questions you receive from curious sartorialists about the peculiarities of your dress. “Do you wear velvet jackets in summertime?” they inquire “Would you recommend wearing linen with denim then?” they fret; all good mannered, evidently interested commentators who require answers and explanations. [...]
Rare Moment: Tie Pin 3 September, 2010, 6:37 pm
Tie clips are everywhere. And I mean everywhere. It’s no thanks to me and my continual evolution towards maximalism; my online prating is but a tiny speck in the universe of influence. Instead, I blame Mad Men. Those cigarette-sucking, skinny tie money-n-misery merchants of Madison Avenue, scripted to sell to others, have ironically succeeded in [...]

Blue Notes 31 August, 2010, 5:52 pm
One of my most recent purchases was a pair of navy blue tasselled loafers from London’s Gieves & Hawkes.
When I was a kid I had a pair of navy blue brogues which I thought were Jack- the-Biscuit, and still think fondly of them. Strangely enough, I spotted a chap in a pair of blue suede [...]
Obey Jacket 9 September, 2010, 11:53 am
When I saw this jacket from Obey, I knew I had to present it to you. Let me explain why. Actually it’s just something general: the alternance of materials and colors is giving it someting special. The top is waxed cotton made to protect from the rain and the bottom uses cotton herringbone for warmth. Add it some front pockets and you’ve got one of autumn/winter 2010 top billing item. Indeed, those workwear/mountainwear jackets are in lots of brand’s collection this season. This one looks particularly well made.

Vivienne Westwood Anglomania by Lee 9 September, 2010, 2:54 am
What an unexpected collab for those jeans. Vivienne Westwood, the most excentric of the designers and Lee one of the most famous jeaners : the result must be nothing but awesome. And it is the case in every piece of their shared collection with a full line of original and quality jeans and some nice graphic tees. These ones are slimfitted, and they’re looking great. The lining creates a quirky render and it changes from Lee’s usual dullness. Concerning the price, it’s affordable. Then what are you waiting for? (and so am I)

DATE Sneakers 8 September, 2010, 11:38 am
The pair of sneakers you’re seeing on the picture above and which is so similar from some Converses is called the Tender. It actually comes from DATE, an Italian sneakers brand. What’s likable on these shoes that could make you pick them above all your classic sneakers? Their purple/used color mixed with a suede material is really original and give them a vintage touch. This makes their general aspect harmonious. Isn’t it a good reason to change from the basics and wear some different shoes?

Brixton Bowler Hat 6 September, 2010, 9:17 am
Bowler hats are a standard of british “chic” clothing. Yesterday used as the way to rise socially, we can say it has become an accessory of coolness. Brixton has just released some new type of hats for the Autumn/Winter 2010 season. What can we notice about this bowler hat on the picture above? It looks particularly well made. Just know that it exists in brown color too.

Globe Belt 6 September, 2010, 8:00 am
This belt from the skateboard brand Globe is such a nice surprise. Looking at it, we can denote a cool vintage effect created by this fake crocodile leather crimson colored. The buckle does also look vintage with a used Globe logo. It actually makes falling my head over heels!

Diesel Black Gold Jacket 5 September, 2010, 10:00 am
This jacket from Diesel Black Gold collection is particularly original and looks nice. Its deep blue color with some lighter edges are making a certain contrast which is absolutely great. About the shape: it’s double brasted with some vintage styled buttons. If you can afford this price, go for it.

Wings + Horns Chinos 5 September, 2010, 3:00 am
Wings and Horns is a Canadian brand that produces its entire collection there. The brand uses superior materials and offer a very innovative design. These chinos look particularly well cut. Their olive color changes from an usual navy/black/grey one. You can match it with nearly everything and overall the Red Wings Ranger boots I told you about last time. As chinos are one of the essential of men’s closet, pick some quality ones.

Red Wing Boots 4 September, 2010, 10:00 am
Red Wing started making shoes in 1905. Among others, they provided boots for the US army for the two World wars. This is a formal evidence of certain quality. A century later, their collections still remains a sure bet. Seeing these boots, the army heritage is evident. They’re 100% leather made and fits their name : Ranger/work boots.

Barbour Umbrella 4 September, 2010, 3:00 am
For those future autumn times, let me introduce you this nice umbrella from Barbour. Its tartan pattern is really making it British styled. Add it a wooden handle to contrast, and you’ve got the perfect tool to face any pouring rain.

Edwin Sweater 3 September, 2010, 9:00 am
This is such a nice piece from Edwin. Ok, they usually make jeans, but you can’t deny this sweater good lookingness. What’s likable about it? Those grey and ecru stripes first, then, the button shoulder opening. Just wear it under a peacoat and with some boat shoes and you’ll have the greatest sailor outfit ever :)
